Recipe: Homemade Salsa

It’s that time of year! It’s fresh produce season! I just love going to the produce stand and looking at all of the gorgeous veggies! At my local produce stand, I can get a huge basket full for about $10. Yeah. $10. You can get ingredients for a fabulous salsa from your produce stand for a little amount of dinero.

What you’ll need:

  • Tomatoes
  • Cilantro
  • Onions, White and Green
  • Bell Peppers
  • Jalapeno, optional
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cayenne Pepper, optional

This is a chop and drop recipe. Meaning you chop it, drop it in a bowl, season to taste and you’re done.

Chop your tomatoes, you can take the insides out, but I don’t, cilantro, peppers, jalapeno, and onions. Put it all in a bowl and season to taste. Taste it with each addition to see what you need to add and if you need more of it. It will taste better the longer it sits, and the salt will draw out the liquids from the tomatoes, so if it looks a little dry, just give it an hour. You can also blend it if you like a smoother salsa.
